Hello, and welcome to St. Frances Cabrini Catholic School! Our mission is to provide a quality Catholic education to all of the members of our parish family and beyond. We offer academic excellence in a diverse community, motivating students to become respectful, responsible individuals who are active disciples of Christ.
Our school is focused on high academic standards taught through a Catholic lens. We incorporate Education in Virtue into our daily practice, instilling the tenets of our faith into the everyday lives of all of our students. Ours is a school small enough that everyone knows your name, but big enough that each class is a robust, energetic community that fosters self-confidence and individuality.
My name is Deborah Dewar, and I’ve spent most of my life in Catholic schools as a student, a teacher, and a principal. I grew up in California where I spent my elementary and middle school years at All Hallows, and my high school years at St. Francis in Sacramento. I taught at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Medford, Oregon, for almost 20 years as an elementary and middle school math and science teacher, and then spent seven years in Salem as the principal of St. Joseph Catholic School. I have been through seven accreditations, and been a part of a number of school improvement plans, and I am excited to bring my skills and experience to this Lakewood community.
I have been married for 33 years to my husband Jake Dewar, a wildlife biologist who specializes in tracking and tagging target species as a subcontractor to both the US Forest Service and the BLM. We have two grown daughters. Tori is married and just became a brand-new mom to our first grandchild. Their family lives in northern Seattle now, but is planning to move to this area soon. Christina is engaged to be married, living in New York as an aspiring Broadway talent and current SAG actress.
I am so excited to be a part of such a warm, welcoming community. As we blend our parish with St. John Bosco as a Lakewood Catholic Family, we are building new bridges and expanding our celebrations to create a bright, new world of faith.
