Parent-teacher partnership

A parent-teacher partnership is an important part of your child’s 3rd grade education. Most significant, is the support we give one another.  To best meet the student’s needs and ensure success it is important that parents check the  child’s assignment notebook each day, monitor homework and review corrected work with the student.

Throughout the school year parents of 3rd graders have many opportunities to help in the classroom and take part in the many activities that happen at school.

Home-School Communication

There are many forms of Home-school communication throughout the year.

1.  You will receive the monthly Third Grade News informing you of various activities in the curriculum and keeping you updated about different happenings in the 3rd grade.

2.     You will also receive two folders of corrected work a week.

a.     One is a Math folder, which contains corrected math homework, tests, and quizzes.  This folder contains a note with teacher comments about the work and a space for comments by you.

b.     The other is a Friday folder containing work from the other subject areas. In this folder you will find a note written by your child telling you about their work, what they did well on and why as well as what they plan to improve on the following week.  This note also asks for your comments on their work.

3.     There are two scheduled conference times throughout the year-one in the fall and one in the spring.

4.     Additional conferences can be scheduled on an as needed basis.

Special Events to look forward to in 3rd Grade:

Weekly Mass:  Each Wednesday at 9am Grades 3, 4 & 5 go to Mass together.

Zooland is simulated project where the students help keep a zoo from being shut down. The students work cooperatively, raise money and learn how to become good zookeepers. At the end of the unit the students get to reopen the zoo in the classroom.

The best ways to reach the Teacher:

  1. Send a note in your child’s assignment notebook. It is looked at each morning.
  2. Voicemail – leave a message on the school voice mail.
