Pre-Kindergarten Program

A nurturing community of faith and educational excellence

Overview of Pre-Kindergarten program

A developmental program and environment that closely follows the nationally recognized guidelines set by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.  It is age appropriate and meets the individual needs of children ages 4 and 5.  Our program recognizes and attends to the growth of the "whole child."  This established a solid foundation needed for a child's successful Kindergarten experience.

Your child's school year will be a positive one. Parents have the unique opportunity to share in their child's development, by participating in the program.  Volunteers are always welcome.

At Saint Frances Cabrini your child will join the rest of our school (K-8) in the following activities:

  • Mass and religious celebrations
  • Christmas Program
  • Math / Science Fair
  • Grandparents Day
  • Art Fair

The Curriculum

Each month the schedule of activities is theme-based with creative and hands-on materials that spark the imagination of your growing child in each of the following areas:

Faith.  Children are at the brink of discovering God and His importance in every aspect of their lives.  A lifelong positive attitude can be gained with faith-filled activities and participation in community service.

Pre-KSocial.  Children learn to experience positive peer relationships and how to resolve differences with peaceful resolutions.

Language Arts.  Your child's interest in the spoken and written language will be maximized through daily activities which include stories, finger plays, poems or writing challenges.

Pre-Math Readiness.  Children experience the meaning of numbers, patterns and graphs during tub time, center and small group activities.

Art.  The emphasis is on open-ended art that allows children to explore with tools and materials in a variety of ways.  The outcome is both successful and satisfying for the child.

Music.  Children have the opportunity to dance, practice new songs, learn about rhythm and play simple instruments.

Motor.  Large motor activities promote the development of muscles so that the child can walk, run, jump and skip.  Small motor activities help form the basis for pre-writing skills.

Self-Help.  Your child will have opportunities to feel empowered by the many things that can be done independently.

Program Philosophy
Our Pre-Kindergarten program recognizes that each child is on the brink of many new and wondrous discoveries about self, others and the world in which we live.  The class is child-centered and based on the theory of "whole child" development with active participation.

When I hear, I forget.
When I see, I remember.
When I do, I learn.

Why Choose Cabrini?Pre-K

People believe in Catholic Schools because they have a proven record of success.  So does Cabrini.  People believe in Catholic Schools because they are safe, secure places.  Students from many ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds come to our family-like atmosphere, achieve success, graduate and continue on into successful lives and careers.

At Cabrini, as in all Catholic schools, students are taught about their responsibilities to other people.  Students are given opportunities and challenges to act out their Christian concern.  Cabrini School enhances the self-worth of students by providing them with Christian motivations for their actions.

This is a total education.
